SDC and UNDP to support Anti-corruption Efforts in KosovoSep 27, 2017
On 27 September 2017, the Swiss Development and Cooperation Office in Prishtina and UNDP's Office in Kosovo have signed a funding agreement regarding the implementation of UNDP’s Support to Anti-Corruption Efforts in Kosovo (SAEK II) Project.
The signing of the agreement marks yet another period of cooperation with the Swiss Development and Cooperation Office, following up on the previous UNDP’s Anti-Corruption Project that ended in May 2017.
On this occasion, Mr. Patrick Etienne, Head of the Swiss Cooperation Office stated that “Fighting corruption must be a priority for the Government of Kosovo and it must be tackled more seriously and systematically by all relevant authorities. As part of its cooperation strategy, Switzerland is a valuable contributor to the development endeavors of Kosovo. However, all actors should make sure that corruption does not undermine the development perspectives of this country.”
In addition, Mr. Andrew Russell, UN Development Coordinator and UNDP Kosovo Resident Representative, added that "UNDP is extremely grateful for the partnership and unwavering commitment of the Swiss Development Cooperation to supporting the fight against corruption in Kosovo."
Thanks to the generous donation of the Swiss Development and Cooperation Office and DANIDA (Development cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark), UNDP’s Support to Anti-Corruption Efforts in Kosovo (SAEK II) Project will support Kosovo's institutions and the civil society in preventing and fighting corruption.
The Project will remain active until 2020.
